CATAPULTS
RULES:
The device must be built by the student and contain a lever-like throwing arm. The arm must be no longer than 38 cm tall (15 inches). The entire device must be no taller than 43 cm (17 inches).
No prefabricated device such as a mousetrap can be used. Regular springs or rubber bands are acceptable.
The winner will be the device that launches a ping-pong ball the farthest and straightes
EGG DROP RULES:
LANDSCAPES
Judged for overall creativity, true to life scale, neatness, and whether it is an accurate representation of the chosen theme. DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE WORK PUT INTO A LANDSCAPE, MORE BONUS POINTS WILL BE AWARDED FOR THESE!
RULES:
1. Projects can be no larger than 75 cm on a side. No shoe--box sized projects!
2. If using water, no more than 500 ml may be used.
3. If you will need electricity you must inform your teacher ahead of time.
4. A 3 X 5 index card with your name, grade, teacher, and project title, must be clearly visible on your landscape.
5. Landscape must not contain more than 3 plastic figures or creatures. Students are expected to MAKE items for their landscape.
6. Landscapes can be brought the morning of the competition and must be picked up immediately after the competition or they will be thrown away.
For this year’s competition you may choose one of the following themes:
1. Worlds of Fun Park 7. Science Lab
2. Wetlands habitat 8. Microscopic World
3. JurassicPark 9. Archeological Dig
4. African Safari 10. Weather Phenomena
5. Ocean Reef 11. Earthquakes
6. Ski Resort 12. Tsunamis
Failure to adhere to the above rules will result in disqualification

- A device must be built by the student that will keep a raw egg from breaking when dropped from a height of about 10 meters (30+ feet).
- The device can only consist of plastic straws, plastic wrap, tape, and rubber bands. (not all items need to be used)
- The device can be no larger than 20 cm (8 inches) on a side and weigh no more than 100 g (0.22 lbs).
- The egg will be supplied at the competition.
- The winner will be the lightest device that keeps the egg from breaking.
